The good: Fast, mobile and athletic defender declared for the draft after a terrific junior season. He has played well on the inside, combining very good speed and power to be effective in both run and pass defense. He is an active defender who reads the play quickly, takes on blockers well, plays with leverage and stays alive to make tackles. He is an above average athlete that competes hard with good instincts and awareness. He is best stuffing the inside run where his physical talent allows him to fill the hole, shed the block and finish. As a tackler, he is an explosive hitter with strong hands and good technique to wrap up runners. Though most of his game is in forward motion, he shows developing coverage skills and improving play recognition ability to be an every down defender as a pro. He made more big plays with more experience and his last month of production was exceptional. He is a fine special teams performer.
The bad: He is still inexperienced in pass coverage and is not ready to be an every down defender. Missed some time due to a knee injury.
