10:12 p.m.McGuffie makes good

After taking an official visit to California over the weekend, Sam McGuffie returned to his suburban Houston home confused. He had been committed to Michigan for months, but Cal's Jeff Tedford made him think twice. But it's wasn't enough. McGuffie signed with the Wolverines, who had retained Fred Jackson, the assistant coach responsible for recruiting him and two other Houston Area recruits that Michigan signed on Wednesday.
9:12 p.m.USC surprises, adds linebacker

Uona Kavienga, the nation’s No. 5-ranked inside linebacker by Rivals.com, has signed with Southern Cal. Kavienga had previously committed to both UCLA and BYU. But in the end, the Trojans were the winners.

This pick up could move the Trojans ahead of several teams that are tightly bunched in the national recruiting rankings between Nos. 7-10 in the country.
9:10 p.m.Knox signs with UCLA

Lake Balboa (Calif.) Birmingham running back Milton Knox finally ended the suspense on Wednesday evening.

After taking a weekend trip to Notre Dame, Knox signed with UCLA where he originally committed back in June of 2007.
7:47 p.m.Four-star DT sticks with A&M

Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower defensive tackle Rod Davis previously committed to Texas A&M but was torn between the Aggies and the Texas Longhorns leading up to Signing Day.

Davis finally made his decision final, signing with the Aggies at a Wednesday evening ceremony in Houston.
2:47 p.m.Four-star OL Stevens headed to Oregon

For Hemet, Calif., offensive lineman Hamani Stevens, his decision was much tougher than he thought. He went back and forth between Oregon and UCLA for the last 48 hours and still wasn't 100 percent sure of his decision moments before he announced.

In the end, Stevens decided to leave home and signed with the Ducks.
2:08 p.m.Alabama picks up another

Alabama moved closer to a recruiting national title when four-star linebacker Jerrell Harris announced he is headed to Tuscaloosa.

Perhaps no single recruit held more importance for the 2008 Alabama signing class than Harris. A star at a need position, Harris had offers from all over the country, including Auburn, Clemson, Southern Cal and Tennessee.

The four-star outside linebacker, Harris is rated as the nation's No. 1 run stopping linebacker by Rivals.com. He registered 19 sacks and 140 tackles as a senior at Gadsden City High School.
1:00 p.m.Four-star OL picks LSU

Miami Monsignor Pace OL Greg Shaw went into National Signing Day with a decision to make.

After visiting West Virginia last weekend, Shaw narrowed his college choices to the Mountaineers and the LSU Tigers, but today became a part of the 2008 LSU recruiting class.
12:35 p.m.Johnson flips from Aggies to Iowa State

In a Signing Day surprise, Iowa State has signed four-star receiver and top 250 recruit Sedrick Johnson.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder was originally committed to Texas A&M, but decided to make the switch to the Cyclones today. Johnson told AggieYell.com on Tuesday, he was set to sign with the Aggies, but that changed in the last 24 hours.

Johnson will be the highest rated recruit in the Iowa State class. He ranks as the No. 30 player in Texas and the No. 34 receiver in the nation.
12:24 p.m.Shaw makes Big Ten switch official

Trotwood, Ohio, four-star running back Michael Shaw became a Penn State commitment in August, but had been having second thoughts for awhile now, visiting Michigan officially Jan. 25.

Shaw finally announced he would sign with the Wolverines today.
12:05 p.m.Harris makes his announcement

While it was expected, Miami fans can still breathe a sigh of relief.

Booker T. Washington CB Brandon Harris has announced that he will be a Hurricane.

11:57 a.m.Four-star WR goes with the Gators

After some early disappointment with the de-commitments of Ricky Barnum and Ramon Buchanan, Florida finally got some good news on Signing Day when Lakeland Kathleen wide receiver T.J. Lawrence picked the Gators.

Lawrence chose Florida over Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and others.
11:51 a.m.Top RB picks Colorado

Five-star RB Darrell Scott will sign with Colorado.

The nation's top running back prospect from Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure announced his college decision at the ESPN Zone in Anaheim, Calif., and picked Colorado over the Texas Longhorns.
11:44 a.m.Team Rankings Update: Irish or Tide?

The national team rankings are starting to fall into line.

It looks like the winner will be either Alabama or Notre Dame. Florida appears out of it.

Alabama’s signing of Julio Jones pushed them to No. 1. However, Alabama as of the last official update has yet to receive LOIs from three recruits - Kerry Murphy, Star Jackson and Mark Ingram. They also are recruiting Jerrell Harris. Notre Dame, meanwhile, already has signatures of all of its players in house, with the possible exception of four-star running back Milton Knox. A combination of signing Knox or the Crimson Tide losing one of its star players, could alter the ranking.

The biggest surge of the day comes from two teams - Clemson and Southern Cal.

Tigers have added Dwayne Allen, Jamie Harper and Antoine McClain, all four-star prospects.

Southern Cal has added T.J. Bryant and Nick Perry, although they lost Joe Adams to Arkansas.

Miami has also had a nice day, adding Tommy Streeter and getting a re-commitment from Ramon Buchanan, who had pledged to Florida.

11:35 a.m.Bryant is a Trojan

Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln cornerback T.J. Bryant picked the USC Trojans at a Signing Day press conference at his high school.

Bryant took an official visit to USC on 1/25 and had chose the Trojans over Florida, Florida State, Miami, Alabama and LSU.
11:31 a.m.Julio Jones picks Alabama

Five-star wide receiver Julio Jones has been one of the most talked about prospects in the state of Alabama's history, though he's done little talking of his own.

In front of television cameras from all over the country, Jones signed with Alabama.

Jones announced his commitment at Foley (Ala.) High choosing the home state Crimson Tide and likely solidifying Alabama's recruiting class as the nation's best.

Jones is the fourth-ranked player in the country per rivals and the top-ranked receiver overall. He picked the Tide over finalists Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas Tech and Florida.

11:25 a.m.Clemson adds another as Harper joins class

Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian running back Jamie Harper committed to Clemson moments ago at a press conference at his high school.

11:12 a.m.It's official: Pryor will not sign today

Terrelle Pryor, the nation's top prospect, officially announced that he will not sign a letter of intent today.

Pryor said at a press conference at Jeannette (Pa.) High School that Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Oregon are still in it for his services.

Pryor said he needs more time to make his decision after going straight from a state championship football season into basketball season.
11:11 a.m.Five-star prep school RB signs with Ole Miss

Five-star running back Enrique Davis from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., has signed a Letter of Intent to play football at Ole Miss next season.

Davis made his announcement and signed his letter of intent at a ceremony late Wednesday morning for several Hargrave prospects who were signing Division I scholarships.
11:10 a.m.Notre Dame makes late push at No. 1

Notre Dame has received letters of intent from 23 recruits so far today.

The Irish were at 22 commitments Tuesday, but they were able to add Rivals250 defensive lineman Kapron Lewis-Moore, who had originally committed to Texas A&M.

The Irish await word from four-star running back Milton Knox from California. Knox had been committed to UCLA for several months, but took an official visit to Notre Dame last weekend.

The Irish are ranked No. 1 in the Rivals.com national team rankings updated as of noon Eastern.
10:57 a.m.McGuffie putting off decision?

Cypress (Texas) Cy Fair running back Sam McGuffie was scheduled to sign his letter of intent with Michigan this morning, but he could be having second thoughts.

After a visit to California this past weekend, McGuffie was considering the Golden Bears. As of noon Eastern, McGuffie is considering not signing today, delaying his decision between Michigan and Cal.
10:56 a.m.Arkansas pulls Adams from USC

Four-star cornerback Joe Adams decided to stay home after all.

Adams, the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas, had been committed to Southern California. But on Wednesday he announced that he will be going to Arkansas.

Adams said that he was happy with the arrival of coach Bobby Petrino and said that the Razorbacks' coaches told him he would have the opportunity to play offense and return kicks.
10:51 a.m.McClain to Clemson

Anniston (Ala.) OT Antoine McClain announced for Clemson moments ago at a news conference.

The 6-foot-6, 317-pounder becomes the third four-star offensive lineman to pledge with the Tigers, and fourth overall.
10:45 a.m.Zook pulls another from Florida

Ron Zook continues to exploit his former home state of Florida.

Zook added four-star defensive lineman Corey Liuget of Hialeah, Fla., moments ago. Liguet chose Illinois over national champion LSU among others.
10:45 a.m.Buckeyes land Florida athlete

Gulfport (Fla.) Boca Ciega athlete Orhian Johnson has signed with Ohio State.

The three-star athlete picked the Buckeyes on Signing Day over South Florida and Indiana.
10:37 a.m.Rivals100 DE Perry picks USC

USC will receive a LOI today from Detroit King four-star defensive end Nick Perry.

The Rivals100 prospect announced his choice at his high school moments ago. He picked the Trojans over Michigan, Miami and Michigan State.

Halfway through National Signing Day with many surprises already pulled, several teams have improved their stock or lost momentum.

The loss of Ramon Buchanan contributed to Florida losing its grip on the top spot.

Florida may have let out a sigh of relief when Omar Hunter in fact did not switch his commitment back to Notre Dame.

Four-star tight end Dwayne Allen held a press conference Monday afternoon to announce his final decision ... then changed his mind on Wednesday.

Allen, who said on Monday that he was headed to Georgia, instead will sign with Clemson after announcing the switch at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
9:32 a.m.Five-star Love makes it official

Alabama fans still have to wait a couple more hours to find out if the Tide will land five-star WR Julio Jones, but the wait is over for Tyler Love.

A five-star offensive tackle, Love had been committed to Alabama since July and the signing was basically a formality.
9:30 a.m.DT Hunter having second thoughts?

Five-star defensive tackle Omar Hunter may be having second thoughts.

Sources say that the Buford, Ga., native is considering switching his pledge to either Georgia or Notre Dame. Hunter had originally committed to Notre Dame, then switched to Florida in January.

Possibly in play is a rumor that Florida co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, Hunter's chief recruiter and the Gators' defensive line coach, will take a position with the Baltimore Ravens.
9:22 a.m.Georgia gets five-star signatures

Georgia has received letters of intent from its two five-star recruits in its class.

Wide receiver A.J. Green and athlete Richard Samuel both faxed their letters to the Bulldogs.

Mark Richt and his staff are still waiting for a signature from four-star tight end Dwayne Allen.
9:11 a.m.Abrams-Ward to Tennessee

Rivals250 athlete E.J. Abrams-Ward signed with Tennessee Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder had been undecided between Tennessee and North Carolina leading up to Signing Day.

9:05 a.m.Roundtree makes switch, Shaw still waiting

Four-star receiver Roy Roundtree switched his commitment by signing with Michigan. He had been previously committed to Purdue.

Roundtree's teammate Michael Shaw, a four-star running back committed to Penn State, did not sign his letter of intent with the rest of his Trotwood (Ohio) Madison. He announced he will sign his letter at 1 p.m. Eastern.

8:55 a.m.Hurricanes land Streeter, Jones

Rivals100 WR Tommy Streeter Rivals250 OL Benjamin Jones watched their Miami Northwestern teammates decide to become Hurricanes over the last few months.

They both decided to join them on Signing Day and added their names to the Miami 2008 recruiting class.
8:48 a.m.Southern Miss making a move

One of the big surprises on National Signing Day is the class that Southern Miss is putting together.

Not only did the Golden Eagles and new coach Larry Fedora snare wide receiver DeAndre Brown, the nation’s No. 22 prospect overall, but they also were able to add Bo Tillman, a four-star offensive tackle who was previously committed to Ole Miss and Marcal Robinson, a three-star defensive back who was previously committed to Arkansas.

Southern Miss is currently ranked No. 33 in the Rivals.com national team rankings, which is its highest ranking in a single year since the rankings began in 2001. But it’s not all good news. The Golden Eagles fell just short for Charles Mitchell, a four-star defensive back and Rivals250 member, who selected Mississippi State over Southern Miss and Ole Miss.

Four-star safety Ramon Buchanan originally committed to Miami before a late switch to Florida.

He has made a second switch on National Signing Day with a last minute commitment back to Miami. The Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay standout gives Miami 16 commitments rated four stars or higher.

8:33 a.m.Trojans get LOI No. 1

Georgia native Brice Butler, a wide receiver, is the first recruit to fax in his Letter of Intent (LOI) to Rose Bowl champion Southern California.

Butler is the No. 79-ranked player in the country by Rivals.com, and the son of former Atlanta Falcon Bobby Butler. USC is expected to ink 17 players to LOIs today.

8:32 a.m.Lewis-Moore headed to Notre Dame

Kapron Lewis-Moore will cheer on Texas A&M next season. He just won't do it from the College Station sidelines.

The four-star defensive end from Weatherford, Texas signed with Notre Dame on Wednesday morning, making his second de-commitment from the Aggies official and giving the Irish their 23rd commitment in a recruiting class that's expected to sign in full later today.

8:21 a.m.Four-star Barnum pulls a switch

Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson four-star center prospect Ricky Barnum has always liked Rich Rodriguez dating back to the Michigan coach's days at West Virginia. On Wednesday morning, he proved just how much.

Barnum, a soft Florida commitment since Jan. 18, pulled the switch and announced his intentions to go to Michigan during a press conference at his school.

8:14 a.m.Four-star Jenkins stays in state

Vienna (W.Va.) Parkersburg four-star offensive guard Josh Jenkins signed with West Virginia at a press conference Wednesday morning at his school.

Jenkins originally committed to West Virginia but opened his recruitment back up when Rich Rodriguez left the Mountaineers for Michigan. After entertaining overtures from Florida State and Ohio State, the Rivals250 member returned to his original choice.
8:12 a.m.Bryant sticking with Sooners

There was some speculation that four-star junior college linebacker J.R. Bryant might switch his Oklahoma commitment and sign with Texas Tech this morning.

But Bryant reportedly just faxed his letter of intent in to the Oklahoma coaching staff and will be a Sooner.
8:09 a.m.Thomas sticking with Seminoles?

Despite a late push by LSU, three-star back Jermaine Thomas appears to be sticking with his Florida State commitment. At the gym in his high school, there are reportedly lots of Garnett and Gold balloons and three Seminole hats on the table.

The press conference has not started yet, but unless he plans a shocker it looks like he will be an FSU signee.
7:54 a.m.First Longhorn in, Scott coming?

DeSean Hales is the first recruit to sign with the Texas Longhorns this morning. The No. 53-ranked player in the country according to Rivals.com is one of 20 pledges to the Longhorns. Nine other recruits in this recruiting class are actually already on campus.

The Longhorns now await word from Darrell Scott, the nation’s No. 1 ranked running back who is said to be deciding between Texas and Colorado. Colorado, however, appears to be Scott’s likely destination.
7:17 a.m.Pryor on hold

Rivals.com's Greg Ladky was with Terrelle Pryor for filming this morning before school, and Ladky confirms Farrell's earlier report that Pryor will not sign today and take an official to PSU.

Ladky will have video footage of the discussion w/ Pryor and what he's thinking going in to what is clearly one of the most anticipated recruitments of a No. 1 player in recent memory.

Penn State made a late push for Christchurch (Va.) Christchurch School WR Deion Walker, but the Rivals250 prospect has decided to stick with his original commitment and sign with Notre Dame this morning Mike Farrell reports.

4:07 a.m.La. OL Thomas to sign with Tennessee

Later today, Baton Rouge, Louisiana offensive lineman Dallas Thomas will sign his National Letter of Intent and after weeks or wondering by everyone Thomas told VolQuest.com late Tuesday night that he will indeed be signing with the Vols.

"The tradition of being a major national football power as well as a first rate academic institution," Thomas said. "The atmosphere surrounding the campus, the coaches, players and outstanding facilities including the largest stadium in the SEC and the second largest stadium in the nation are some of the things that sold me on Tennessee."
