Offer was there all along

Before Georgia faced-off against Mississippi State between the hedges Saturday, Walton 2013 offensive lineman Brandon Kublanow received some good news.

The Peach State standout said he was in shock when he was offered by UGA, but Kublanow said head coach Mark Richt mistakenly thought he already knew.

"I was up at Georgia for the game. I got there and everyone was going into eat and then they told me that they were going to take me up to see Coach Richt. So I went up there and I talked to a couple coaches and then I went in and saw coach Richt and me, him and my mom talked for about 45 minutes. Then at the end, I guess he didn't, like, he was like 'you know you have an offer from us, right?' And then I was like, 'I didn't know that,'" Kublanow said. "He was like 'I thought Coach (Will) Friend told you.' I was like, 'No he didn't.' So he was like 'yes, you have an offer from us.'"

Kublanow, who also has offers from Georgia Tech and Duke, said this doesn't change how he feels about Georgia, it solidifies it.

"They are definitely; they are top on my list. They've been on thee top of my list for a while and they are still there," Kublanow said. "(Coach Richt) didn't really pressure me to commit, he was like 'I know it's going to be a while but if you are ready you can commit. I just said thank you. I was just kind of in shock. It was just really exciting."

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman said his relationship with the staff is one of the biggest draws to the program.

"We are pretty close. I like them a lot. They are really relaxed and they are almost like father figures up there. It's like a family up there," Kablanow said. "(My mom) likes them a lot. She likes the campus and she likes how the academics are."

Kublanow said he really enjoyed the game and was happy to see the Dawgs take the win over an SEC opponent. He said he was able to spend time with other recruits he'd met from Dawg Night, like five-star and fellow offensive lineman John Theus, and visit with players, like friend and Walton alum Brandon Burrows.

As for a timeline, the junior, who said he is planning on coming back to Athens for the Auburn game, said he isn't in a rush to commit, but definitely won't drag out the process either.

"I haven't really thought about it too much," Kublanow said. "Maybe like the end of the offseason, the beginning of summer."
