Targeting top juniors

While the Trojans' class of 2008 is still being built, several of the nation's top juniors already call USC their future college.

With five commitments from the class of 2009, some recruiting analysts are calling USC the favorite to win a third national recruiting title under Pete Carroll. The Trojans' early commitments back those predictions.

Four of USC's five 2009 commitments are ranked among the Rivals100 pre-evaluation All-American team. And while Compton (Calif.) Dominguez linebacker Marquis Simmons remains unranked, he projects as one of Southern California's top talents heading into his senior season.

At 6-foot-1, 215-pounds, Simmons has been labeled as inconsistent, but his physical prowess matches that of any linebacker in the state - regardless of class.
