Practice Insider: Sticking to the plan
This isn’t a time for USC to sulk around Howard Jones Field or for the Trojans to kick it into a higher gear. No, after losing two of the last three games by a combined 61 points, it’s business as usual, for better or worse, at USC practice.
Head coach Pete Carroll said the approach this week isn’t different than it was the week after USC beat Ohio State.
“It’s the formula that gets us back to focusing and gets us back to doing things at a tempo in a competitive environment where we have to perform,” Carroll said. “It’s structured that way. We don’t dwell on it. Our language isn’t in the past... We’re not even involved in what happened before. We’re checking out stuff and fixing things and making sure that guys have their minds right and that they believe they are able to counter what we’ve got to deal with. That’s what’s at hand right now. As long as we stay focused on that, it’ll take care of itself.
“But, it’s still a challenge. It is. I don’t want to say that it isn’t, but it is every week.”
