Georgia DT high on Spartans, Big Ten

Buford (Ga.) three-star defensive tackle Jerome Davis' recruitment by Michigan State has been a whirlwind affair.

From the sounds of it, his name wasn't even on the Spartans' radar just a few weeks ago. But after viewing his film, the Spartans, led by quarterbacks coach and Georgia recruiter Dave Warner and defensive line coach Ted Gill, see Davis as a positive addition to the defensive line.

"Well, this started like three weeks ago maybe," the 6-2, 255-pound Davis told SpartanMag.com about his contact with the Spartans. "Our head coach called and they wanted film or something, I don't know, anyway my dad sent them film and three days later they called and talked to me for about a week and then they came down to see me. The D-line coach came to see me then the recruiting coordinator came in this week, I think it was on Monday, and it just started like that."

MSU's recent contact with Davis is paying off, and as of now, the Spartans sit atop his list with South Carolina and Mississippi State.

Next up in Davis' recruitment is the start of official visits, beginning with a stop at West Virginia this weekend and possibly South Carolina the following weekend.
