Black waiting on Cincy's next move
With Brian Kelly now the head coach at Notre Dame, his recruits at Cincinnati might be looking for a new address to play college football, and several of the Bearcats' verbal commitments will certainly be reunited with old acquaintances trying to lure them to their program before signing day.
One name that was high on the Michigan State Wish List before his recruitment ended with a commitment to Bearcats is Jibreel Black of Wyoming High in Cincinnati.
Though he is listed a three-star defensive end prospect in the Rivals.com database, the Spartans recruited Black to play defensive tackle, which also happens to be a position of serious need for MSU heading into the home-stretch of the recruiting cycle.
SpartanMag.com caught up with Black (6-2, 253) on Monday night to see where his recruitment is headed in the wake of Kelly's departure from UC.
"It wasn't too abrupt," said Black, who Rivals.com ranks the No. 25 senior prospect in the state of Ohio, of Kelly's move to South Bend. "I could kind of sense in the air that he was going to go. Everybody knew that he was talking to Notre Dame, so it wasn't too hard (to take)."
Black added of his commitment status: "For right now I'm just going to keep my commitment the same. I'm not looking at any other schools right now. I'm just going to see how everything plays out at UC and go from there."
