Army receives commitment from DL/OL, Ryan Powis

This evening, OL Ryan Powis gave his pledge to Army and become the 7th member of the recruiting class of 2010. If the Midlothain, Virginia product were to have his way, he would have given his verbal commitment to the Black Knights only days after going on his official visit to Army on December 4th.

It was really no surprise that Powis chose the Black Knights. From the time he got the offer up until he committed it seemed like a very safe bet that he was going to pick Army.

The day after his official visit, Powis had shared with that knew Army was right, but he wanted to step away for a few days at the suggestion of Coach Rich Ellerson. "Coach Ellerson said to me on my official visit, that if you commit now, that simply means that you had a good trip, but if you feel confident in committing in three or four days, that means that you want to be here," says an excited Powis.

This evening, Coach Gene McKeehan, who has handled Powis' recruiting, made an in-home visit Powis home. It was after dinner that the 6-foot-1, 260 lineman expressed his interest in becoming a Black Knight. "I'm extremely excited and Coach McKeehan was as well," explains Powis. "Both my parents knew that this is where I want to play and attend school and they are supportive of my decision," Powis declares.

Powis' first stop will be the USMAPS. will have more on Ryan Powis in weeks ahead, but would like to welcome the offensive line prospect on board as the newest member of the Long Gray Line.
