Spartans battling for Black
The final recruiting battles of the 2010 recruiting cycle will begin to heat up this week, with Michigan State involved in one of the Midwest's most hotly contested, the battle to land three-star defensive end Jibreel Black of Wyoming High in Cincinnati, Ohio.
After Brian Kelly left the University of Cincinnati for Notre Dame, Black, still a Bearcats verbal commitment, decided to test the waters, and that means MSU, Michigan and Indiana will all get a look before signing day. Black is expected to take official visits to the four schools he's considering, beginning with Cincinnati this weekend and MSU (1/15), U-M (1/22) and IU (1/29) the following weekends.
It's safe to say the Bearcats are still Black's leader, but the Spartans, Wolverines and Hoosiers are ready to put up a fight.
"For right now I'm still committed to the University of Cincinnati, but they had a coaching change and all of that, so I need to make sure the University of Cincinnati is the right place for me, that's why I'm taking three other visits," Black told SpartanMag.com Sunday night.
