Lyn sees recruitment pick up
Miramar, Florida defensive back Keondrick Lyn has had a pretty quiet recruiting process, but in the last month it is starting to pick up. Visits are still being taken and commitments are being given.
Who did Lyn give a commitment to?
"I committed to Northern Illinois over the weekend," Lyn stated. "I felt like that was home for me. The coaches made it feel like home, my host was from down here and I knew him before I went up there and he made it feel like home. I just felt like that was the right choice for me."
Lyn, 6-foot-1, 172 pounds talked a little bit more about what he likes about Northern Illinois.
"The school, I like their school and how they help the football players get their work done. They are going to be all over me to get my work done and my mom liked it too. The fact that my mother liked it was another big factor."
Rivals.com has Lyn listed as a safety, but he could be playing more than that in college.
"Northern Illinois is looking for me to play corner and safety, but safety mostly."
When asked what position he plays the best Lyn's answer was short and to the point.
"I play both the best. I give it my all at both positions."
Even though he gave a verbal commitment to Northern Illinois Lyn will be heading back up north to visit a Big East program this weekend.
"I do have a visit to Syracuse, I leave on Friday."
After seeing what Northern Illinois had to offer, what exactly will Lyn be looking for on his Syracuse visit?
"I am going to look for the same things as Northern Illinois and I am going to see what they have to offer."
Scott Shafer is recruiting Lyn for the Orange and he keeps close tabs on the prospect.
"Coach Shafer the defensive coordinator is recruiting me. He calls me and checks up on me."
Despite being from the south going to school up north will be no problem for Lyn when it comes to football. The one thing he will have to learn to deal with is the colder weather.
"I am just going to have to deal with the cold everything else is going to be the same to me," Lyn added. "My work ethic and the way I learn the game."
When it comes to another school besides Northern Illinois is there any chance of changing his commitment and signing with another team on National Signing Day?
"Right now Northern Illinois has my heart," Lyn said. I just don't know."
