Stone rolling toward final decision

For James Stone it has come down to three; Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee.

The Maplewood High School (Nashville) star said that his final choice will come down to where he feels most comfortable.

“They all have a lot of things going for them," Stone said, "and then it just comes down to where I feel like I’m going to fit in the best, where I feel the most comfortable."

The 6-foot- 5, 297-pound Stone is visiting Knoxville this weekend for the first time since his unofficial visit in October and is looking to see what is different this time around on Rocky Top.

“I’m just looking to see what’s going on, see how everything is because it’s changed since the last time I’ve been there," Stone said. "I just want to check things out."

Stone, who has already visited Alabama and will visit Auburn the weekend of Jan. 29, said he is looking for the details each school and program presents in the last official visits he takes.

“I’m really wanting to pay attention to how everything gets along, the little stuff. It goes a long way,” Stone continued.

One of the bigger things Stone will be paying attention to while he is on his visit to Tennessee will be what new head coach Derek Dooley is like. He said that he has kept a good relationship with offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, but Stone is interested in his first meeting with Dooley.

“I just want to feel him out, get to meet him and feel him out,” Stone said. “I just want a first impression and see if it lasts.”

Stone said that Alabama leads slightly over Tennessee and Auburn but said that his final decision will come on signing day, Feb. 3, and is ready for the lengthy recruiting process to end.

“On National Signing Day we’re trying to have a little thing at my school,” the TSSAA’s 2009 Class AA Lineman of the Year said. “I’m just ready to wind all this recruiting stuff down.”
