Oak Hills High dual sport athlete with weekend visit
Ben "Russell Athletic" Russell continues to glance around the Midwest. His college choice most likely rests somewhere in Indiana or Ohio.
"I have been to Indiana, UC, and I am going to Bowling Green this weekend," said Russell. "Ball State has offered. They want me to go up there for spring practice, but I play baseball."
It has been difficult for him to plan visits while baseball season ramps up. The 6'1" linebacker also plays outfield for the Oak Hills High School baseball team. Of course the team is only conditioning and throwing for right now.
Oak Hills has a respectable history of producing professional baseball players. Scott Klingenbeck, Bill Wegman, and Pete Rose, Jr. all prepped with the Highlanders.
The offseason workout regime of the football team will be superseded by Russell's baseball games. He will manage to get the lifting done though as the determined junior plans to get into the school late at night to continue his routine.
As for the recruitment process like many juniors Russell is in no rush.
"I am leaving everything open right now," said Russell. "I will get more into it come senior year."
There are a few pertinent people already attending his schools of interest though. You never know which connection will tug a player towards his school of choice.
"My cousin goes to Bowling Green right now," said Russell. "My cousin goes to UC and my aunt went to Indiana. One of my friends goes to Ball State."
Where will Ben Russell go?
