Long loves it at Mississippi State

Briarcrest Christian (Tenn.) center Hunter Long has already picked up one scholarship offer from Memphis but is making the rounds throughout the Southeast for junior days hoping that interest will grow.

The 6-foot-3, 293-pounder has already made trips to Mississippi State, Georgia and Alabama and will also visit Southern Miss, Tennessee and Arkansas as well.

"Recruiting is going good," Long said. "It's kind of stepped up here lately because of all the junior days. I've been going to a lot of different places."

Long visited MSU along with Saints teammates Michael Johnson and Tray Becton-Martin. It was Long's first visit to Starkville in quite some time and he left with a positive outlook of what the Bulldogs have to offer.

"I loved it at State," Long said. "It was really cool. I hadn't been down there since I was a lot younger and didn't really remember it. We got to tour the campus and hang out with the coaches a lot. I got to spend a lot of time with Coach (Matt) Diaz[/ab] and Coach (Scott) [db]Sallach. We sat down and talked with Coach (Dan) Mullen for about 10 or 15 minutes and then went to a basketball game. It was a lot of fun."

That visit was the first time Long has had a chance to meet Mullen and it apparently was a good first impression.
