Kicker enjoys taking in VT practice

For the second time this week, a 2010 kicker prospect made his way to Blacksburg. The prospective target enjoyed his first time at Virginia Tech and got to know the coaches even better.

"I enjoyed it a lot," Bristol (Va.) Virginia kicker Ian Frye said. "It was the first time I had ever seen it. I saw the facilities and spoke with Coach Wiles and Coach Beamer. I liked the campus a lot.

"I was really surprised by the level of kicking. I was really pleased to see the level it was at and I could play there. I liked how the head coach worked with them and I'd like to do that in the future. I also really enjoyed how they set up a big competition at practice. I was kind of jealous because I wanted to be kicking with them."

What did the coaches say in regards to recruiting him?

"They were very glad to meet me," he said. "They hadn't seen any film on me yet. I gave them my disc and they said they'd have a look at it. They mentioned they heard great things about me and would love for me to go to a camp there on June 5th. I told them I would go. They did mention the spring game to me as well and I probably will go up for that as well.

"As far as recruiting, they did mention that they are looking mainly for a punter. I do punt as well, but if they find a kicker that is good enough they'll bring them in for the competition."

Frye plans to head to Virginia on Saturday for the Cavaliers spring game.

Recruiting is beginning to pick up as Boston College is starting to show interest as well and has invited him to a camp.
