The Michigan State staff is scouring the country for high-level players. One prospect they are taking a serious look at is 6-foot-0, 195-pound Storm Woods of Pflugerville High School in Texas. SpartanMag.com caught up with Woods last night and has the latest on the Lone Star State standout.
Woods is seeing his recruiting stock rise significantly this spring and he informed us that not only does he have 2 scholarship offers, but is hearing from numerous heavyweight programs like Michigan State.
'Oregon State and Tulane have offered, Wood stated. I am hearing from schools such as Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas State and Baylor are a few of them."
Last fall Woods was having an exceptional season of Pflugerville until an injury sidelined him. At the time he was hurt he had rushed for 485-yards on 43 carries and scored 6 touchdowns. He was the leading rusher in the district."
Wood sis completely open in his recruitment at this time and plans on hitting several camps this summer in hopes of picking up more offers a few of the camps he knows that he is going to hit include, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami and Oregon State. A trip up to Michigan State is also a possibility. Several Pflugerville prospects have been to East Lansing in the past and Darius Darks may have selected the Spartans if not for Brynden Trawick accepting the scholarship at his spot.
As far as what he is looking for Woods indicated the following:
I am looking for a school that is in a competitive conference and needs a big-playmaker. I don't mind traveling out of state at all.
Spartanmag.com will be sure to keep in contact with Woods in the coming months. Those that have seen him in action say that Woods is more explosive that several other local players that have gone on to play in the Big 12. The easiest way for Woods to receive a Spartan scholarship offer will be to stop into camp for a day and work with his position coach. Coach Dantonio appreciates prospect that are willing to come to East Lansing and test their abilities against other top prospects.
