Hunter says consistency is key
As Iowa's only returning starter at linebacker, there are a lot of expectations on Jeremiha Hunter this year and his coaches say he has responded by having his best spring ever. After the scrimmage on Saturday, Hunter talked about what he has been working on, how he can be more consistent, the competition he has seen among the linebackers, and much more.
Q: With Jeff moving inside to the middle, how well do you feel he has adjusted to playing the position and what's it like to have an opportunity to play alongside him instead of competing with him for a spot?
HUNTER: Actually, we were making some jokes about it on the field during the scrimmage today. I was asking him if MIKE linebacker is way easier than WILL and he said it's a lot easier and more fun too. We were just joking around. As far as him playing beside me, or Troy Johnson, all of them are great linebackers. All of us are competing and it's going to depend on how hard we work.
Q: How about for you? How has this spring been different heading into your senior year?
HUNTER: I think this has been probably one of my better springs as far as consistency. I know that was one of the coaches' concerns about me being consistent, so I just came in day in and day out and tried to get better. I had a little setback last week with my neck, but I tried it out today and it felt fine. I'm going to take my role as a senior and as a leader and continue to work and do what the coaches expect me to do.
