Trudo talks about first offer
Farrell (Pa.) Farrell offensive lineman Rob Trudo went into last weekend with no offers in hand, but that all changed with an unofficial visit.
The first team to step up to the plate and offer Trudo was Syracuse University.
"They offered on Saturday right before they started their spring game, down in the locker room," Trudo said. "It took my breath away it was amazing, that was my first offer and that is what I have been waiting for. I loved it and I was thinking like is this true."
Trudo, 6-foot-5, 262 pounds was surprised with the offer, but his visit to Syracuse was about as good as it gets.
"Man it was great. It had everything I could look for in a college. The campus, the school buildings were all in one area, football stays in its own part on campus, and the players get treated real well up there. It is everything you could ask for as a football player."
On this trip to Syracuse Trudo told CuseConfidential.com that his tour of the campus was his favorite part of his trip besides the offer. On that tour not only did he see what the Orange had to offer, but he met a former Syracuse quarterback that he had a chance to speak with for a few minutes.
"It had to be the tour of the facilities and stuff. I met Greg Paulus in the weight room when we walked by and I talked with him for about five or ten minutes. I guess that was the best part," Trudo stated. "We talked about Syracuse really and that Syracuse has a lot to offer and that he liked playing football for them. He said that it was also a good place to be."
Greg Paulus was not the only person that Trudo talked with about the Orange. He also had a chance to sit in a meeting with the offensive lineman and talk with Syracuse right tackle Josh White.
Even though Rivals.com list Trudo as a defensive end Syracuse sees him as an offensive line man. What position on the line is up in the air at this point because the Orange coaches see Trudo at different spots.
"They said that they like my athleticism and intelligence of the game, so they said that I would probably end up playing all positions on the offensive line."
Once the offer from Syracuse was in hand the thought of committing was in his head, but he fought the urge and held off. Despite holding off on making a commitment he does have a time frame for when he would like to end his recruitment.
"I am probably going to commit to a school before football season start, in August before two a days."
