Huge Georgia OL talks UA

Moultrie (GA) offensive lineman Xzavier Ward has been among the most heavily recruited offensive tackles in the South this spring, taking visits to spring games at Florida State and Georgia Tech and hauling in numerous offers, including another recently from Tennessee. Ever on the lookout for elite linemen, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been involved with Ward from early on and continue to pursue the 6-foot-7, 255-pound star from Colquitt County High.

"I hear from Alabama a lot," said Ward. "They like my height and weight and they said they can help me gain weight and still be able to move fast. I'll be playing tackle in college and I know looking at the guys Alabama has now, I would have some good guys to learn from."

Ward, who helped lead Colquitt County to the state semifinals last season, said he saw a lot at Alabama's Junior Day earlier this year that was similar to the way his high school program is run under former Hoover head coach Rush Propst.

"The 4th Quarter program is something similar to what we do at our high school but obviously way more intense. I also really like that everything Alabama does centers around winning championships rather than individual guys making big plays. I think that's a big part of why they were able to win the national championship last year."

With new offers continuing to come in, Ward isn't planning on making a final decision anytime soon and will likely wait until late this year before making a commitment.

"Everyone is even as far as I'm concerned right now. I just haven't had a chance to learn enough about everybody yet to call anyone a favorite. I will start cutting down the list this summer and I will probably wait until after the season to make a decision. Academics and playing time are the two most important aspects I'm going to be looking at. I don't have to play as a freshman but I want to know there will be an opportunity to play fairly early in my career."
