One of the top athlete recruits n the Big Ten region for the class of 2011 Desimon Green of Clairton High school in Pennsylvania. Spartanmag.com was able to speak with the 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect and got some details on his recruitment. Green provided us with some details about the teams he currently favors and when a decision about where he will attend could be made.

Green has an impressive list of scholarships that includes offers from teams like Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, West Virginia, Texas Tech, and Illinois. Spartanmag.com asked him about the teams that have been by and if any other schools are on the verge of offering?

"All of the schools that have offered have been by my school, Green stated. I have 13 offers altogether. Michigan State was in. Michigan told me to make sure to call them back tomorrow so I think they may offer me as well."

At 6-foot-4, 215-pounds, Greene has the versatility to play multiple positions. On defense he could play either defensive end or linebacker and on offense he could play tight end, quarterback or even split out on occasion and play some wide receiver. Michigan State is recruiting Green as an athlete, but it is very possible they see him as a tight end prospect that can help stretch the defense."

Spartanmag.com asked Green about his contact with Michigan State and what are some of the factors that will impact his

"I have talked with Coach Dantonio and I have talked with my recruiter, the tight end coach (Mark Staten). I want to play early so that is something that is going to play a big part in my decision."

The fact that the Spartans will graduate starter Charlie Gantt and both Brian Linthicum and Garrett Celek will be seniors in 2011 would seem to indicate that tight end might be the spot where Green could make an early impact if he decide to attend Michigan State. However, you can be sure that Defensive Coordinator Pat Narduzzi would love to see Green line up on the defensive side of the ball along with All-American William Gholston.

As far as summer plans and when he will make his decision Green provided SpartanMag.com with the following details:

"I am not going to attend any camps, but I will visit some schools. I would like to make my decision in August or September. Right now my favorites are Michigan State, Pitt, West Virgin and Texas tech, but I am open to new schools as well."

One of the reasons why Green would like to make his decision at that time is it will allow him to focus on his senior year. Clairton is the defending Class A State Champion in Pennsylvania and Green believes they have an outstanding chance of repeating in 2010. If Clairton does repeat it will likely be due to the outstanding play of Green on both sides of the ball.
As a junior, Desimon Green recorded 87 tackles and had a school record 27 sacks. He now has 50 sacks the last 2 seasons. On offense he threw for over 1500-yards, rushed for over 800 and accounted for 25 touchdowns. For his efforts he was named 1st team All-State, All-Conference and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fab 22" honors.

SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow-up with this top Michigan State recruiting target for the class of 2011 in the coming weeks.
