Is the decision in for Hale?

Ohio State has struck again on the defensive line landing the verbal commitment of Greenwood (Ind.) defensive tackle Joel Hale. Hale is the 14th member of the Ohio State recruiting class and is the 9th player on the line to be a part of the Buckeye recruiting haul.

Hale committed to Ohio State before the first of June but wasn't ready to go public with his decision until now after having a chance to let other schools and coaches know of his decision to be a Buckeye.

Hale is an extremely athletic player at his defensive tackle position checking in at 6-foot-4, 290-pounds. Hale brings good strength and endurance with a bench max of 360 pounds and 30 reps of 185-pound to boot. Add to that good agility and strong study habits and the Buckeyes have landed a top performer. What was it about Ohio State that put it over the top with Hale?

"It was the best decision for me and my family," Hale said. "The recruiting class that I am going to be in is unbelievable."

The new Buckeye is one of the top players in neighboring Indiana, a state that has been good to Ohio State through the past including delivering Roderick Smith in the class of 2010. Hale will enter the rankings as a three star prospect but the chances are high that he ends up cementing four star status at least before the final rankings lists come out in January of 2011.

The Buckeyes prevailed in landing Hales commitment over schools like Florida, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin. Hale will now be able to focus on his senior season and getting ready to make the leap from high school ball in the Hoosier State to college life at Ohio State.

"The education is the first thing for me," Hale said in an earlier interview during his recruitment. "The Ohio State University has a great education. Then the championship factor of a school and Ohio State obviously brings both of those to the table. It is hard to come across something like that."
