Bostick to commit soon?

Akron is the only school that has formally offered a scholarship to Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic all-purpose back Karell Bostick, so that would seem to bode well for the Zips' chances.

That's especially true considering two more facts. First, Bostick plans on making a decision before the start of his senior season, and secondly, he plans on visiting Akron just about a week from now.

While other schools are showing interest, such as Maryland and Boston College, Akron is the front runner, and Bostick said that when Rivals.com caught up with him towards the end of this week.

"I would say it's still pretty open now but seeing as how Akron is the only school to offer they're out in front," Bostick said.

Of the schools that have not offered Bostick said Maryland has shown the most interest to date. He said the Terps, as well as others, have said they want film from Bostick's senior season before they decide once and for all whether or not to offer him a scholarship.

For now, Bostick's tentative plan is to make a decision before the start of his senior year of high school. At the end of the year if he has picked up more offers he may reevaluate his decision.

This summer Bostick and his teammates from Bergen Catholic attended a camp at Boston College. Individually he took unofficial visits to Pitt and Maryland.

He has kept in regular contact with the Akron coaches, and just spoke to one on Friday.

"I actually got off the phone earlier (on Friday) with Akron," he said. "I'll be going down there July 24th. That's going to be my first time seeing the campus so I'm pretty excited about that."

The Zips offered Bostick in late June and since then they have laid out a convincing case for why they would be a good fit for the talented running back.

"It's definitely a place I'm interested in," he said. "It's the second biggest university in Ohio next to Ohio State. It's a very good school and an up and coming program."

The 5-foot-9, 190-pound back is ranked the No. 28 prospect in New Jersey.
