Battle is fighting his way back onto the field
Americus (Ga.) Sumter defensive tackle Jonathan Battle entered his junior season as one of the most promising rising stars in his class. However, an ACL tear in the third game of the season set the 6-1, 280-pound prospect's recruitment back and he is now working to regain his former status as an elite Division 1 recruit.
Battle produced a dominating junior season, collecting 99 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks and five forced fumbles. He followed that up with several impressive performances at off-season camps a combines heading into his junior season and then collected 26 tackles and nine tackles for a loss in his first two games before the knee injury occurred.
