Even though recruiting has slowed down significantly over the past month, Virginia Tech is working out visits for one prospect including an official later this year. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder discussed the latest with his recruitment at this time.

"I know Virginia Tech wants to schedule me for an official visit," Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha kicker Michael Branthover said. "My dad contacted Coach Hite at the end of July to find out more about officials. They said it would be sometime in December.

"I'm definitely going to be doing that. Right now nowhere else has offered an official visit."

The Hokies are one of two teams wanting to see Branthover this fall.

"Iowa has given me tickets to their home games and Virginia Tech has too," he said. "I'm going to try to make some games for Virginia Tech, but I haven't coordinated it with my schedule."

As Branthover awaits interest to develop this season from other schools, he is busy at the moment preparing for the season opener on September 4th against Loyola.

"I'm hoping to get first team everything again like last year," he said. "I want to get my numbers up and hopefully I'll be able to get a scholarship anywhere.

"I am going to try kicking off the ground this year. I've been doing that at camps, but I want to get better in game situations so college coaches can see me doing that. I'm going to try to make that big switch, but it might be tricky since my holder transferred to another school."

Branthover went 6-of-7 field goals with a long of 44-yards including 54-of-75 kickoffs for touchbacks as a junior last season.
