Orloff makes his official visit
Linebacker Mike Orloff visited Iowa City back in the spring before he committed to the Hawkeyes, but needless to say the atmosphere on game day is whole different experience. This weekend, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Orloff had a chance to soak it all in on his official visit as Iowa beat Iowa State by a score of 35-7 on Saturday. He talks about the trip and much more.
Q: How did your official visit go this weekend?
ORLOFF: It was awesome. It was great to see all of the coaches again. We met a bunch of players on the team and they were all really nice. The game on Saturday was incredible. Their game day stuff, I've never seen anything like that before, so that was really cool to see.
Q: You had been out there before, but visiting on a game day is a little bit different I imagine.
ORLOFF: Yeah, definitely. Iowa City on game day is absolutely insane.
Q: Did you meet some of the other recruits out there?
ORLOFF: Yeah, it was me and Marcus (Grant), and then we met Jake Rudock, the quarterback from St. Thomas Aquinas, and Austin Blythe was there too.
Q: Who was your host for the weekend?
ORLOFF: I had Jim Poggi for the first night and then I had A.J. Derby the second night.
Q: What did you from Poggi about his experience playing linebacker so far?
ORLOFF: He gave me a lot of insight into what it's going to be like when I go out there and how the coaches are and all that stuff. It was cool to hear that from a player that has been through it, so I know what to expect.
