RB Wiley headed to the MAC
Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep School running back Justin Wiley has been laying low lately but on Monday evening he confirmed that he has made his college decision.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound running back from the Keystone State will be heading to the Mid-American Conference to play for Miami-OH.
In Wiley the RedHawks are picking up a versatile back with the speed to beat linebackers to the edge, the quickness to make a man miss and enough strength to carry the ball between the tackles.
He has also shown the ability to catch passes out of the backfield and should be able to split out wide and run some good routes in college.
Prior to his decision Wiley had picked up scholarship offers from Buffalo and Eastern Michigan, but as it turns out, he didn't need the remaining months leading up to Signing Day to know where he wants to go.
Wiley is Miami-OH's sixth known verbal commitment from the Class of 2011 and the first from Pennsylvania.
He is also the first running back commitment for the RedHawks in this class, though the school signed three running backs in the Class of 2010.
As a junior last fall Wiley carried the ball 160 times for 1,456 yards and 26 touchdowns while catching 21 passes for 495 yards and eight scores. Defensively he recorded 31 tackles and broke up five passes.
