Crume reflects on commitment

On Sunday Rob Trudo may have made his commitment to Syracuse, but over the weekend word of another commitment came to light. Saturday Eric Crume announced that on Monday he would call Syracuse and verbal. Monday came and Crume did in fact pick the Orange.

Why did Crume pick the Orange? The answer from Crume was short and to the point.

"It is a good place to play I like the coaches and my family likes the University."

Crume, 6-foot-2, 320 pounds likes what the University has to offer and he also likes the direction the Orange are headed under Doug Marrone.

"Syracuse is on the upswing it is going in the right direction. The coaches are doing a great job in getting some nice talent and hopefully we can get it together."

Like his fellow commit Rob Trudo Syracuse's coaching staff played a big part in the recruitment of Crume.

"The coaching staff honestly it was the coaching staff that put them over the top. The coaching staff is very friendly and they know what it takes to win a football game," Crume said. "They made me feel at home, they talk to me about things other than football, and they help give me guidance."

Other than the coaches the Michigan product also liked two other items he would get if he picked the Orange.

"They give me a great opportunity to play and I can get my number. I wear number 52."

"It was tough because I wanted to wait around for other schools. Other schools wanted to wait for my test scores and I did not want to chance anything. Syracuse was my best opportunity."

Now that his recruiting process is over he still is looking to be a factor in the process.

"I will be helping out. We have to bring in some more talent to make sure the team is all set so we can win, do anything for the University."

On Monday when Crume called and verbally committed to Syracuse it was his birthday and picking the Orange was a great way to cap of the day.

"It is a great honor that somebody wants to pay for my education just because of the talent I was blessed with," Crume stated, "It is great this is the way I planned it. This is a new year for me and a new beginning."
