2012 DL has good return trip
Last week's win over Wake Forest saw a number of visitors, particularly for the 2012 recruiting class. One of those was a prospect making his third trip to campus this fall, what did he think about the win?
"It was pretty good, I enjoyed it a lot," Lynchburg (Va.) Brookville 2012 defensive tackle Korren Kirven said. "They won of course, they blew Wake Forest out and that's always a good thing.
"So far this season I've been to the Wake Forest game, James Madison game and East Carolina."
Was there much different for the lineman this time around?
"Not really, I enjoyed myself again and had a lot of fun," he said. "I got to go out on the 50 and talk to Coach Beamer. I enjoyed that and I tailgated with all my friends.
"Beamer didn't really say anything. He just said hi and said it was nice to see me. I did talk to Coach Stinespring though; he was asking how my season is going and how he'd like to see me up there. I meant to bring him my film, but I forgot and plan to send it to them soon."
On the recruiting front, interest is picking up for Kirven recently.
"I'm getting mail from North Carolina, Virginia, Penn State, Rutgers, Texas A&M, Alabama, Duke, Tennessee and Oregon," he said. "I've been invited to some games.
"I've already been to Duke and Virginia. I'm scheduled to go to Penn State at the end of the month (Saturday) on the 30th when they play Michigan. I'll be back at Virginia Tech for the Georgia Tech game of course."
Kirven and Brookville are 7-0 on the season at this point in time.
"We had a close one to Heritage last week and won with three minutes left," he said. "In terms of me, I'm doing well. I have five or six sacks and my technique is a lot better this year, for sure. I'm making a lot more tackles and helping my team."
