Anderson a regular in Columbus
Ohio State's recruitment of Ryan Anderson began last fall when the Buckeyes invited the 6-foot-4, 312-pound offensive lineman from Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio to attend their home game against Iowa.
Already this year the junior has been back to Columbus twice. He attended the Buckeyes' over Miami and Eastern Michigan.
During one of his trips to Ohio Stadium, Anderson had the opportunity to talk with the Ohio State coaches.
"We were late getting there because of an accident so we didn't get to go into the recruiting room," Anderson said. "I was able to say hello to coach (Jim) Bollman."
Despite the brief chat with Bollman, Anderson enjoyed his experiences at Ohio State.
"It's a great place even when the game isn't a big game," he said. "The fans are still into it and it's still really exciting just being there."
The Buckeyes continue to stay in touch with Anderson, mostly through the mail.
On Oct. 16, Anderson visited Ann Arbor for Iowa's 38-28 win over their hosts, Michigan.
"The Big House is a cool place and it's a good place for football," Anderson said. "(Michigan's coaches) were excited for me to come up and excited to get to know me more. They want me to come back on an official visit some time."
This season Anderson has been a big reason why his Roosevelt High School team has won seven of its nine games. Roosevelt's offense is potent and has dominated most of its opponents.
The Roughriders currently hold down the No. 7 spot in the Ohio Division II, Region 5 playoffs and clinch a spot in the post-season with a win on Friday.
Anderson said he's pleased with his performance this season.
"I think I have played pretty well. I think I can improve a lot though," he said. "I can be a more physically dominant player and (I could improve) with my footwork, stance, fundamentals and conditioning; basically everything."
Anderson said he's more physical than he was last season and he has become one of his team's leaders.
