Williams focused on playoffs

While still in the midst of a playoff run, La Marque (Texas) quarterback Emmanuel Williams has continued to receive increased attention from some of the top programs in the country. The 2012 prospect is in the early stages of his recruitment, but he's already working on an impressive list of options.

"I've been hearing a lot from Baylor, Houston, SMU, and Texas A&M," Williams said. "I also just recently started getting in contact with Texas Tech. They've been sending me stuff through the mail and I'm just now learning a little more about their program."

Williams is somewhat unfamiliar with the Red Raiders, but he's well aware of the success that past quarterbacks have found in West Texas.

"I don't know a lot about them, and I've never been up there, but I know they've had some good teams in the past few years," he said. "I know their quarterbacks are usually having big seasons. Even with their coaching change I know that the quarterback is still going to have the ball in his hands with an opportunity to make plays. I don't know what else you could ask for."

Williams has only taken an unofficial visit to Baylor so far, and he lists them as his early leader. He doesn't have any further visits planned at the moment due to his continuing playoff obligations.

"I haven't got any more visits planned right now. I'm just focusing on this postseason run we've got going on right now and hopefully it lasts for a while."

"I'm not sure when I'll start narrowing down my list, but it probably won't be any time soon. I've only gotten to learn a little bit about some of the programs that have shown interest in me so far. So, when I get done with football for the year and have a little time to get more into the recruiting part of it, I will. That probably won't be until late spring or summer."

Aside from Texas Tech, Williams is also being shown interest from Alabama, Baylor, Houston, LSU, SMU, and Texas A&M.
