Washington headed north
Daerius Washington, out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla) Dillard has been very high on the Syracuse Orange since the recruiting process began. After an in home visit last week he has become even more interested.
"I am headed up to Syracuse on Friday," Washington said. "I hope I see everything that I have been seeing online and hearing about."
Washington, 6-foot-0, 190 pounds has heard a lot of nice things about the Orange football program and he talked about what he likes.
"What I like about Syracuse really is the whole family environment. I like that Doug Marrone is an alum and he came back to build the program back up. I like Coach Shafer and all of his defensive schemes and how they have become one the best defenses in the nation. I also like the dorms, the Dome, and the fact that they are recruiting Florida a lot this year."
The strong connection the three star linebacker felt with Syracuse was made even strong after an in home visit last week.
"Coach Shafer came in last week . The visit went well and my parents really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my mom had to go to school, but my dad and I really enjoyed what he had to say."
After Washington talked about Coach Shafer meeting his family and everybody enjoying the in home visit he paused and added more about what he thought of Syracuse after the visit.
"I all ready had a soft spot for Syracuse from the start of the process. They were my first off and they were the first team that gave me the opportunity to play at the next level. Then they came inside and talked with my family it took everything to another level. Now my parents want to head up with me on my visit."
When asked if the Orange were his favorite school at this point he was hesitant to say they were because he had so much respect for the other schools involved in his process. Despite the respect factor he did admit the Orange are sitting on top.
"I would say yes they are."
With that being said is there a chance for a commitment when he is on his visit to Syracuse?
"If my parents and I agree to it, we talked about that situation and everything. If it is everything that I believe it is and that is where I want to be then yes I will."
If he does not pick Syracuse over the weekend he also has a couple other visits on his schedule.
"I have a visit set up with Western Kentucky and Western Michigan."
