No commitment for Washington

Last week Daerius Washington was getting ready for his visit to Syracuse and was heading into that visit with the idea of possibly committing to the Orange. The visit has come and gone without a commitment, but the linebacker prospect had a solid visit.

"I enjoyed the whole trip up to Syracuse. I enjoyed the snow, the coaches, and the players. I enjoyed it all."

Washington, 6-foot-0, 200 pound even enjoyed the snow Syracuse had. Getting used to other places weather is something that the prospect knows he will have to keep in mind when it comes to his college choice.

"I figure anyplace is going to be colder than Florida I am just going to have to get used to the weather no matter where I go."

On his visit Washington was hosted by a former Florida prospect and the two players had more in common than just their home state.

"My host on the trip was Kevyn Scott. Kevyn and I are real cool his dad is actually my coach at Dillard."

While he got along with his host there was a bunch of other people he had a chance to talk with on his trip.

"I would say my favorite part of the trip was when I was eating breakfast with the other recruits and the current team. All of us were just talking and bonding. We were just talking like we were all part of the team," Washington said. "Really we just talked about the defense and the offense a lot of things like that."

One other item that stuck out to the three star prospect was the depth chart. The Orange will be losing some linebackers for next season and that had Washington thinking.

"The depth at linebacker stuck out to me. They do not have that many linebackers and on top of that a couple that they do have are seniors. It was kind of crazy to me because I really have a chance to come in and play my freshman year."

Even though he did not verbal to the Orange he thought about.

"I really like them and I feel Syracuse is someplace that I could see myself," Washington stated. "I really did have thoughts of committing on the trip and my parents were also thinking about a commitment. Coach Marrone did not want any commits on the visit because he feels that visits can hype you up and he does not want you to make the wrong decision just because you are hyped up about the visit."
