Calhoun's looking at SU for final visit

Middletown (N.J.) Middletown North prospect Shilique Calhoun has taken four official visits and one trip remains. That final trip is up in the air between a few schools right now and one of those programs is Syracuse.

"I have not actually set up a visit to Syracuse yet," Calhoun said. "I have taken four official visits. I am not sure who is up for the last visit. There are so many candidates. We are just trying to focus on the schools I have visited so far and then worry about that last trip."

Calhoun, 6-foot-5, 225 pounds has not visited Syracuse, but he is very fond of their coaching staff.

"I love the coaching staff. I love the defensive coordinator there, he is really upbeat and he has a lot of energy and that works for me."

One Syracuse coach recently took a trip out to New Jersey to check on the three star defensive end.

"Coach Anselmo came through about a week ago. We just talked about when I was going to make my decision, what I feel is best for me, and understanding what Syracuse has to offer," Calhoun stated. "He is a great guy and I think we have a very good relationship right now. Everything is on good terms and whenever he comes through things are always pleasant."

The Orange like most schools is looking at Calhoun to play defensive end. He feels that his speed is the reason he has become such a solid prospect.

"Syracuse is looking for me at defensive end. I bring speed. I am not a very big guy; I am tall, but not big in width. I think my quickness off of the edge could help a lot of teams."

A decision for Calhoun was expected around this time, but it was recently pushed back.

"I was going to make it before the holidays, but now I am going to wait until after the holidays."
