New top two for Kelley
As the Oregon Ducks enjoy their holiday break before making a final push for the BCS national championship game, recruiting can become an after thought. For B.J. Kelley it seemed, at times, he had become less than that. Duck Sports Authority caught up with Kelley recently to get his perception of his recruitment and the Oregon Ducks.
Kelley, a 6-foot-2, 175 pound wide receiver for Fresno's Central East High School has long been rumored to be a heavy lean to Oregon. But recently Kelley visited Utah for an official visit and he came away very impressed.
"Right now Utah and Oregon are my favorites," said Kelley. "Right behind them is Arizona State and this week Arkansas is starting to get at me. They want me to go on an official but I don't know if I'm going to go. I already have Oregon set up for the fourteenth and I have Cal Poly set up. Right now I'm just looking forward to my two officials that are coming up."
Kelley has already taken three visits. Arizona, Arizona State and Utah have all benefited from a visit and Kelley seems to leave each school with them high on his list. That would seem to bode well for the last two schools to get a visit. Kelley will visit Cal Poly on January 7th and Oregon on the fourteenth. For Kelley it is not as much about leaving campus on a high as it is that each visit just seems to get better.
"I feel like every visit gets better and better. I loved Arizona and Arizona State but Utah took me by surprise," explained Kelley. "They came basically out of nowhere and told me to come out. Everybody told me I wouldn't enjoy it. That it's too cold out there and there's nothing to do but they proved everybody wrong. I went out there and it was snowing and I wasn't even bothered by it. I had a great host. He showed me a great time. Everybody out there was just really nice. Everything about the trip impressed me. I never really thought about Utah but now they're in my top two.
