Baxter still taking visits

Syracuse is narrowing its focus on possible recruits because the recruiting season is nearing a close. One of the prospects Syracuse is still keeping eyes on is safety Keith Baxter.

Baxter, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds has been committed to Marshall for sometime, but he has been looking around lately. Syracuse at one time was the only other school with Marshall on Baxter's list, but a new school has made a move.

"Syracuse, Marshall, and New Mexico are the schools now," Baxter said. "I really like my relationship with New Mexico and I want to go out and see what it is all about. I have never been out there and I want to see what they have to offer."

With three schools remaining Baxter talked about what he likes about each one.

New Mexico: "I like the conference they are in. I have a good relationship with them and their defensive backs coach played with my father. That is one reason why I am considering them."

Syracuse: "I love Syracuse I love Coach Shafer he is a great coach. I have looked at his resume and he puts guys in the league. Coach Marrone is a great coach and he is looking to turn things around and bring Syracuse back to where they are supposed to be. They just had a big win last week against Kansas State in the Pinstripe Bowl."

Marshall: "Marshall is my home that is home for me. They have always stuck out to me and not just because my father went there. I love their coaching staff and what they all bring to the table."

The visit to New Mexico will take place at the end of the month and after that he will make his decision between the three schools.

"Those three schools I am going to be considering the night before I make my decision," Baxter stated. "After I visit New Mexico then I will let it be known where I am going. I will wait a few days after the visit, but I will make my decision then."
