George ready for College

Jaston George gave his verbal commitment to Syracuse University at the end of June and now in January he is ready to start his life at college.

Over the past few years George did not know if he was going to be able to play college ball, but after his final high school season he was convinced.

"I kind of always doubted myself I didn't know if I was good enough. After this season ended though I knew I was ready to go into the next level."

This past season was the best of his young career.

"The year all and all was good," George said. "For me my senior year stood out as my best year in high school. I finished the year with four interceptions, eight pass break-ups, and 38 tackles. On offense I rushed for over 500 yards and 11 touchdowns."

Making the jump from high school to college can be tough and at times George starts to feel a bit nervous.

"I have been kind of nervous about it because it is something new, but that is a good thing about it. I am starting back at ground zero. I know I am going to have to work harder and push myself harder from school to football. "

Even though he gets nervous he is also drawn to the excitement of the new challenge.

"I am very excited to get up to Syracuse and get to the next level. I am looking forward to starting training and getting ready for our season coming up. They are also just coming off of a big bowl game win and I know they are really motivated."

At Syracuse he will be on his own for the first time in his life and that is one of the biggest adjustments he will have to make.

"I am probably going to have to adjust to the weather and just being on my own. I am also going to have to adjust to the kind of defense they play."

If he can adjust to the style of defense quickly George hopes to get into the rotation his first year at his new school.

"I am looking forward to my opportunity. There is a chance I could get in the rotation when I get there or even if I have to redshirt. I am just ready to go there and get to work."

During this offseason George has remained active to try and stay in shape for football.

"I have been lifting weight and I have weight lifting as a class at my high school. Other than that I have been taking it easy because I don't want to hurt myself."
