Bastien Turns Blue

It came down to three schools for Shubert Bastien, Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Middle Tennessee. After one visit to Middle Tennessee, he was convinced, Middle Tennessee was the place for him.

As a junior, Bastien stood 6'4 and weighed a paltry 195 pounds, but held his own against larger and stronger opponents. Now 6'5 and 225 pounds, Bastien's experience as a small man in high school forced him to rely on technique and will serve him well as he takes his game to the next level.

Northern Illinois, Massachusetts, Eastern Illinois, Florida Atlantic, and Western Michigan offered Shutbert Bastien, but they could not match what he saw in the Middle Tennessee community. "I like that the city is big, the school has a good program, and the coaches are close to the team," he said, "I just liked the whole environment. "

The Blue Raider defensive line will need the West Palm Beach native to step up to replace the loss of Jamari Lattimore, Emmanuel Perez, Dwight Smith, and Jarrett Crittenton.
