Thoughts and opinions:

Who is your favorite football player of all-time?

"My favorite player of all time is easily Tim Tebow. He is just a guy that I feel has been in my similar position where people kept telling him that a different position would be better for him and he could never compete and his competitiveness is something that any athlete should look up to."

What is the best football team you've ever seen?

"Best team I have ever seen has to be the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. I am not a Miami fan one bit, but with all those athletes on that team, it was a bit ridiculous."

Favorite NFL team?

"Favorite NFL team is the Jacksonville Jaguars. I lived in south florida for 12 years and learned to love them."

An up close and personal look:

What has been the most memorable moment on the football field so far in your career?

"It was the first play I was ever in. Our running back was also our holder, and he got hurt my freshman year, so i had to hold. I was not expecting to go in at all that game. Absolutely terrifying and I will always remember that. I ended up starting at QB the rest of the year, but I wouldnt call that memorable."

Did you ever have an embarrassing moment playing football?

"Luckily, I have not had any horribly embarrassing moments while playing football."

Do you have a pre-game ritual?

"Pre-game I always have a friend, Aqil Tweedy, who is also a very good starting reciever on our team come to my house and we play NCAA Football 11. I beat him everytime, but it became a tradition. I thought he would have given up."

Thoughts on Marshall:

What position will you be playing at Marshall?

"Hopefully I will be playing QB, and that is what they have told me. I know when coaches see a 6"6" 230 pound kid, other ideas begin to pop into their mind, but I hope to make it so when they see my play, there is no way they can move me."

Are you expecting to redshirt your first year at Marshall?

"I truthfully think I will redshirt. This will be my first year in a spread offense and it will be quite an adjustment. The offense I ran in high school, was extremely successful, but it was not quarterback friendly in any way. Its all just football, so it depends how soon I pick up the offense."

What will you bring to Marshall as far as a strong point?

"I will bring a strong work ethic, borderline over-the-top competiveness and leadership qualities. Everyone is talented athletically at this point, and its these qualities that separate people."

What is the one thing you need to work on to play at the next level?

"Practicing getting hit by 300 pound guys is something that I will have to get used to for sure. I feel like just making sure I can make all the throws, whether it be in the pocket, rolling right or rolling left."

How often do you work out and what is your routine?

"I work out 4 times a week. I work at a local gym so it worked out nicely. I also take a weighlifting class during the day so I definitely get my workouts in throughout the week."

Personal preferences:

What do you do in your spare time?

"In my spare time, I like to just hang out with friends. Whatever we may be doing, its always good to just chill out sometimes with those you are cool with. My friend Albert Tejera, always has something for me and Eric to do."

What food do you like the best?

"My favorite food is probably my grandma's Lasagna. There are not many things that are better than that."

What is your favorite television show?

"My favorite TV show is Entourage. Its a borderline obsession. Eastbound and Down is not too bad either."

Do you have a favorite movie?

"Favorite movie is easily Friday Night Lights. I can pretty much recite the whole script. Should I have said We Are Marshall? (laughing)."

What's your favorite song or musical artist?

"I am honestly a fan of any good music, but I would have to say that my favorite artist is Drake. I do like rap in particular."

Do you have a nickname?

"I have a few nicknames that I try to get people to call me, but they never seem to stick. (laughing)"

Do you have a major picked out yet?

"I am probably going to take either business or biology once I get to Marshall. They are getting the most they can out of me athletically, so I am going to try to get the most out of them academically. "

Have you met all of the academic requirements to enroll at Marshall?

A look at the recruiting process:

What one thing was the determining factor in your picking Marshall?

"The people of Huntington and the coaching staff. They are just down to earth and some of the most geniune people I have ever met. There is not many people like that and its refreshing to see a whole town that cares so much about a school. There is no way I could say no."

Did the Marshall coaches do anything unique in their recruiting?

"I would not say they were particularly unique in the way they approached things. They called me alot more than the other schools before I had committed, but besides that, they were just completely honest with me throughtout the whole process."

Is there a Marshall coach that you feel especially close to?

"Coach Ratliff and I definitely built a relationship through the whole recruiting process. I am not sure if you met him, but he is one the most impressive and genuine people I have had the privledge to meet."

Did you make friends with any current players at Marshall or incoming freshmen during the process? Who and what did you like about him/them?

"Anthony Spano, Chris Alston, Cortez Carter and I have all texted back and forth and they all seem like competitive kids and the type of people you want to be your teammates. I actually played against Cortez during 7 on 7 games. You will have to ask him how that went haha just kidding."

What school would you have chosen if you hadn't decided in favor of Marshall?

"I probably would have ended up going to Wake Forest. It is a top-notch school academically it was something I couldn't ignore. I was offered by WVU too, but you will have to go the bottom of my garbage can for that one."

The future and goals for Marshall and beyond:

What number would you like to wear at Marshall?

"I have worn 15 throughout high school, but I want a single digit number in college. Not sure which one though."

What is your goal for this year?

"My goal for next year is to make the team better. Whether I am the best scout team player that Marshall University has ever seen or the starting quarterback. Whatever I need to do."

Are you planning to attend the Green-White spring game?

"Yes, I plan to make the trip to the spring game."

Would you like to say anything to the Marshall fans?

"I could just quote Terrell Owens and say "Get your Popcorn ready", but I will just say that Marshall is getting a hard working player who is going to put his all into making this team into something special. I appreciate all the support I have been given by all on Herdnation, it meant a lot to me and I must thank you all for that."
