Brown & Semelsberger are getting ready
Defensive tackle Tyrone Brown remains one of biggest commitments for the Black Knights' 2011 recruiting class
no pun intended.
The Florida prospect is currently tipping the scales at 295 pounds, and although he is comfortable playing in the 290-295 weight class, he will most likely see his playing weight at Army scale down to in the 285 range.
However, that is a topic that will be addressed later, but for now, Brown is working extra hard to be in top shape upon his arrival to the USMAPS this summer.
"I do speed and agility training three times a week and lift every day," says the Orlando (Fl) Lake Highland High School recruit.
"Right now I'm focused on working out. I do a lot of different types of lifts from cleans, racks, squats and all of the motion lifts."
In addition to his S&C conditioning program, Brown is also active on Highland's track team. "I do the discus and I run with guys during practice," Brown shared on Monday."
"I'm at my first track meet now and I already competed
I didn't do too well, but I made the top five."
Brown realizes that before he knows it, he will be making his way to the Northeast and jump starting his Army football and West Point career. He also is aware that the New York brings with a chill that he doesn't typically receive in his home state of Florida, but that deterred the defensive tackle's enthusiasm.
"I'm very excited. I reached out to Coach Holmes the other day, but he was heading into a meeting, so I will reach out to him later. I'll have to get use to the cold weather of the Northeast, but it won't be a problem," says Brown who is fully recovered from his season ending injury and continues to work diligently to be ready for the next level of his football career.
Another prep bound commit is "hard hitting safety-linebacker prospect, Matt Semelsberger, who like Brown, has his eyes on the prize.
"I'm in wrestling season right now," he shares with GBK. The "States" (championships) are this Saturday, so I will be doing that.
The prospect out of the state of Maryland is currently wrestling at the 191 weight class.
"I cut down for wrestling, but I typically walk around about 205 pounds," declares Semelsberger, who will jump from mats to S&C once his wrestling season concludes.
"When it comes to football conditioning, I'll be getting back with my trainer once my wrestling season is over," he says. "I will be working on getting my speed back, get my forty down and the whole agility thing to get back to football mode."
Semelsberger knows that the Black Knights' staff have put together a very solid group of players, with many of them heading down to the prep school.
"I've been following our recruiting class on Rivals and we are looking good. I'm on Rivals a lot and I checked everyone's profile and videos and see how everyone plays."
Brown and Semelsberger are two of a group of thirty-plus prospect who are prep bound and make up a very impressive 2011 class.
