Lynch wants to help rebuild
Athol Springs (NY) St. Francis running back Akeel Lynch has slowly hit the recruiting scene, but his recruitment looks like it is about to take off. He holds three offers now and more are expected soon.
One of those schools to offer is Syracuse.
"I think Syracuse offered me about two weeks ago," Lynch said. "I was excited, Syracuse was a school I was very interested and it motivated me to continue with what I have been doing."
With the Orange offer coming in recently and the positive thoughts the Empire State running back thinks helping a school from his home state get back to a high level of play like they once had is important.
"Syracuse is a football team I see on the rise and would love to be a part of. The school itself it great as well."
For the Orange Tyrone Wheatley is leading the charge to try and land the commitment from Lynch and right now he has put Syracuse in a solid position.
"Coach Wheatley is recruiting me and we have been talking since last year. Our relationship is real good I talk to him once a week and get advice from him. I would say our relationship is pretty strong."
For Lynch a visit to Syracuse is nothing new, but his trips put him around the football side of Syracuse and that's it.
"I have been around the football area, but I have not had a chance to see the school. When I do visit I like weight room, locker rooms, and the Carrier Dome is pretty nice too. I plan to get up there again in July to see everything."
Rivals.com has Lynch listed as a running back, but he can easily play both sides of the ball. At Syracuse if he were to pick the Orange though he would stay at running back and he feels he brings a lot to the position.
"I have a size and speed combination, ability to read blocks. There is a lot more in my opinion, but I believe I am a division one running back prospect."
Besides the Orange a couple other schools have offered as well.
"I also have offers from Buffalo, Connecticut, and Duke."
Those schools along with Syracuse should be receiving visits this summer as well as a few others.
"I am heading to a few camps as well as to the schools that offered. I am going to Stanford, Penn State, and Boston College camps."
As it stands now there is no time table set for a decision.
