3-star QB commits to Tech and wants to break records

Louisiana Tech finished 2011 with its best recruiting class to date based on the Rivals.com star ratings. Sonny Dykes and his staff continued where they left off in 2011 and got its first commitment from a 3-star quarterback.

Ryan Higgins is that 3-star quarterback and chose Louisiana Tech over Memphis. More offers should come rolling in for Higgins during his senior campaign however.

Higgins felt comfortable with Tech and its coaching staff and it ultimately is one of the primary reasons he committed to the Bulldogs.

"I felt like [Tech] is the best fit for me and I like the coaching staff as well; as did my parents and coached here at Hutto. [The Tech coaches] show a genuine interest in me and they all are up front and honest with me. They all show they want me there, and that means a lot. They're also easy to talk to and I get along with them," said Higgins.

Mark Tommerdahl is Higgins recruiter and went out to Hutton, Tx. a few months ago and watched him throw.

"[Coach Mark Tommerdahl] came down and watched me throw after school several months ago. He said he knew they would offer because I could do everything they could ask of me. Shortly after that, I called [Tech] and they offered," explained Higgins.

In a wide open offense, the quarterback is the most important position. Higgins said he's excited about the style of the offense.

"My favorite part of the offense is getting to throw the ball a lot. The "Air Raid" offense is a perfect fit for me. I plan on breaking records," said Higgins.

In his junior campaign, the Rivals.com 3-star rated quarterback threw for 2200 yards and amassed 28 total touchdowns.
