Preseason position breakdown; cornerbacks
Louisiana Tech returns several battle-tested cornerbacks. Whether it is a Terry Carter who seems to have been at Tech for a decade or Dave Clark, a Tennessee signee and junior college transfer, the Tech corners have the experience needed to be successful.
At left corner, Tech has put its cornerbacks with length on that side. Ryan Williams is probably Tech's most consistent and talented corner. Williams originally signed with Auburn out of high school before transferring to a junior college for a year. Williams has great ball skills and also possesses great tackling ability. Backing him up is either Justin Goodman or Dave Clark, both junior college transfers. Goodman may spend time playing free safety this season. Clark is probably the "longest" corner on Tech's roster meaning he is the tallest with the longest arms.
Starting at right corner after the spring was Demarcion Evans, another player who seems like he has been at Tech forever. Evans is just a steady cover corner. He does not stand out very often, but is in the right place most of the time. Terry Carter may be Tech's fastest corner. Carter has showed moments of brilliance during his career at Tech, but more often than not, he is out of position. Blasher Saintvil is a guy who has impressed this summer and could fight his way on to the field some in 2011.
Last season, Tech was gashed for passing yards. After reading this some probably wonder how that is possible. Well, that answer lies in tomorrow's breakdown - the safeties.
