Roos up to 11 offers; favors 2

CELINA, Tex. - One of the first things Louisiana Tech head football coach Sonny Dykes said upon arrival to Ruston was how he wanted to get "longer" on the offensive line. Someone 6-6 should do just that.

Jordan Roos is a track and field star and star on the gridiron. With that kind of athleticism that's exactly what Dykes is looking for.

Roos has won the Texas state championship in shot put the last two years in track and field and says wherever he plays football at the collegiate level he wants to do track as well.

"My main thing is can I do football and track," said Roos.

Roos also said that playing somewhere close to home was important to him, but not too important since Colorado and Purdue he said are his favorites.

"I want somewhere that isn't too terribly far from home. Right now, Purdue and Colorado are my top 2 right now and LA Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Louisville are close up there too," said Roos.

What is Purdue and Colorado's leg up in the recruitment of Roos?

"Purdue was the first to offer me and has always shown an interest me. And for Colorado, they have a really good track team and football team," Roos said of his 2 favorites.

Given Louisiana Tech's success in track and field Roos said that did make Tech more attractive to him and the ability for him to make an impact right away.

"The fact that [the coaches] say I could make an impact right away and that I could do track and football. I also like the coaching staff," Roos explained.

As a football player, Roos said his strength is run blocking and being able to muscle someone down the field with his strength. Roos reports a max bench of 420 and max squat of 485 which is very impressive for an 18 year old. His weakness he says is his pass blocking since they don't pass very often at Celina High School.

The current Rivals.com 3-star rated player does not plan on making a decision anytime soon and will make it after he makes all his official visits.
