Dixon enjoys second camp visit

STRONG, Ark.-He may have not shown what he can do out on the field this past weekend, but one of the top running backs in the State of Arkansas got the VIP treatment during his trip to the Louisiana Tech campus for the last camp of the summer.

Kenneth Dixon is a three-star prospect according to the latest Rivals.com rankings. The 5-11, 210-pound Strong Huttig prospect is also rated as the seventh-best overall player in the State of Arkansas according to those same ratings.

"I had a fun time," Dixon said. "I got to check out the campus and just really see everything that Louisiana Tech is all about. I chose to not work out or anything like that. To be honest with you I treated this trip more like it was an official visit. I wanted to talk a lot with the coaching staff and some of the current Bulldog players and just ask a lot of questions.

"I wanted to really see for myself what they (Louisiana Tech) were all about. I definitely liked what I saw."

When it came to the present players that he saw and talked to, Dixon said that much of his time was spent with the Class of 2011 incoming freshmen that were already on campus.

"I really did talk a lot with the freshmen," Dixon said. "I already knew some of those guys from last year and I was just talking and hanging out with them, asking them questions and stuff. They all really had some good stuff to say about Tech.

"They sold me a lot on Tech. The cool thing about talking to players is that they will tell you the truth. They won't just tell you what you want to hear. The players talked about how they were adjusting to life on campus and going to school and stuff with camp approaching. They seemed like they were really enjoying things so far and they want me to come join them next year. My conversations with the coaching staff were kind of the same. They just want me at Tech."

Despite reports that he may be close to a commitment decision, Dixon said a commitment decision is not expected anytime soon.

"I don't know man," he said. "I really just don't know. I really like both Memphis and Tech so far. I just don't think I'm making a decision any time soon. I want to enjoy my senior football season and then make my decision."
