Decision time for Ingram
The visits are now over for Patrick Ingram. It's now decision time for the 2012 guard out of Indianapolis, Indiana after he made his unofficial visit to the University of Iowa on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot- 2 guard said that the Hawkeye coaches made their sales pitch today and he came away impressed with what they had to say.
"I liked how the coaches talked to me and my family and broke things down about my playing time. I really liked the facilities, the school, and the guys on the team that I met," Ingram said Monday evening on his way back home from the unofficial visit. "They told me that they are recruiting me to come in and play right away."
Ingram said he was impressed with Iowa's new practice facilities and the opportunity that it provide him to develop his overall game and he liked the new locker room area that is still under construction in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
After recently securing a verbal commitment from four star point guard Mike Gesell, the Iowa coaches sold Ingram on the idea that he will have a chance to team up with him in the future in the backcourt.
"They said they were recruiting me because they didn't have a player like me," Ingram said. "The coaches told me that they have Mike Gesell coming in and that he does stuff that I don't do and that I do stuff he doesn't do so we could fit well together."
While Ingram left Iowa City with good feelings, he did not make a verbal commitment. He says his final three schools: Iowa, St. Louis, and Loyola are all equal and that he still plans to make a decision later this week.
"I have all of the information that I need now about all the schools. I want to get back home and sit down with my family and talk about it more. I still plan on making my decision later this week."
While he doesn't have a specific date or time picked put, but his criteria is set for making his college choice.
"I am really probably going to go on a gut feeling based on how I feel about my role on the team and how I would fit in."
