The #8 ranked Wisconsin Badgers roll out the red carpet and host the Oregon State Beavers with a Saturday morning start. As we count down the hours till kick-off, Tom Lea of BadgerBlitz.com and Angie Machado of BeaverBlitz.com take a look at the match-up:
WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED AFTER WEEK 1?
Well, we know that UW quarterback Russell Wilson is as good as advertised. Those of us covering his time at Wisconsin have known what he was capable of, but I think I was a bit hesitant to fully jump on the Wilson bandwagon until I saw him in an actual game. And now that he went 10-of-13 for 255 yards, threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another 62 yards on two carries and scored another touchdown against UNLV, I am inching closer to fully catching the 'Russell-Mania' fever.
He's just got to stay consistent. He's got to get UW through the non-conference portion of the schedule undefeated and he's still got to handle a rigorous Big Ten schedule. His start has been great - - if not exceptional - - but his legend in Madison won't be cemented with just one game.
Oregon State took their 'slow starts' in September to new lows last week losing in OT to FCS opponent Sacramento State. The Beavers traditionally potent offense was stymied during the first half of the contest as the offensive line struggled to protect junior QB Ryan Katz.
We are only into week 2 and there are already question marks galore on the Beavers roster. The most important being who will be the quarterback when the Beavers take the field in Madison on Saturday.
