Recruiting heating up for Jones

DeSoto (TX) athlete [db]Ridge Jones[/db] is no stranger to hearing from college coaches. He currently holds offers from Colorado State, UTEP, North Texas, Louisiana-Monroe, and recently Houston jumped aboard and offered Jones.

"Not yet" said Jones when asked if he has set up any official visits. "But, I am going to UTEP this weekend to check them out."

Coach Tim Duffie is currently recruiting the speedy athlete for CSU. Jones says he isn't exactly sure if CSU wants him as a receiver or cornerback, but he said it seems that they like him at corner. Other schools have varied as to whether they like him at receiver or cornerback.

His high school team, DeSoto, is coming off a 63-0 romping in which Jones had a 40 yard receiving score, and another that should have counted, according to Jones.

"I touched the ball three times - I scored on one, and I scored on another, but it was kind of on the ground, so I guess the refs didn't think I caught it, but I really did," said Jones.

Jones continues to impress with his speed, but said he wants to work on his route-running.

As for recruiting, he plans on taking some visits before reaching a decision on where he will attend college.
