PA linebacker looking to visit Army
For Scranton (PA) West Scranton High School prospect DeVaughn Chollette, the 2011 season is exactly as he had hoped for, but the linebacker/running back has big game coming up this weekend and he knows it could be the start of something good for his team.
"We are doing okay," Chollette shared yesterday afternoon. "We won our first game, but the second game was canceled due to weather. We lost two game and we won our last game last Friday. Now we have our rivalry game (Scranton High School) coming up and we are preparing for that this week.
Chollette, who checks in at 6-foot-1 1/2 , 220 pounds starts at both linebacker and running back, but has a slight favorite when it comes to where he enjoys playing most.
"I like both, but probably like defense more ... I love to hit," shares Chollette, who elaborates on his passion for defense.
"I love to hit ... hit anybody. If it's the fullback coming, anybody trying to block me, the wide receivers coming across the middle ... I just like to hit. My lateral skills are pretty good and if there's a fast running back, I play the angles well and can get to the ball carrier."
But it appears that college recruiters have varied opinions on which side of the ball the Pennsylvania prospect will end up at the next level. "Some schools are recruiting me on offense as well, but Army is looking at me as a linebacker."
Presently, Chollette is holding offers from Army, Temple, Bryant and Bucknell and indicated to GBK that he is being recruiting equally as hard from the aforementioned programs.
And of course one of those school are the Black Knights. "I heard from Army a few weeks ago when we emailed one another and we were talking about their season as well as my season," states Chollette, who has already taken an unofficial visit to Army.
"I tour of the campus (West Point), watched their practice and met with some of their advisors, but I haven't been able to attend a game ... their facilities are really nice. I would really like to, but I have to see how things are regarding transportation. I like the visit that I went on there.
In addition to Army, Chollette visited Temple this summer as he went down for their spring practice.
GoBlackKnights.com will continue to follow Chollette's recruiting throughout his senior year.
