Perkins eyes another strong Egg Bowl performance

LaDarius Perkins had some strong games in 2010 but his coming out party was officially in the Egg Bowl when the redshirt freshman amassed 319 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

Tonight Perkins is planning on topping that mark.

"It was a good night for me," Perkins said of the 2010 Egg Bowl. "It was a good night for the whole Bulldog family. We won the Egg Bowl, that's all that matters. Yeah I had some good plays here and there but it was all a team effort. The o-line blocked, Chris Relf threw the ball real well, special teams and defense did their job. That's what we plan on doing this time. If we execute like we should then we should come out on top."

Perkins finished up his redshirt freshman year with 566 yards and three touchdowns on 101 carries and also caught nine passes for 247 yards and three more scores.

That year of experience has helped the 5-foot-10, 185-pounder expand his role in Mississippi State's offense this fall.

"I feel like I'm more confident because I've picked up on a lot more things from last year," Perkins said. "I'm more confident with the plays while I'm in there. I know everything that I'm doing and I know how to turn it up."

Unfortunately for Perkins the Bulldogs offensive line has been riddled with early season injuries which has caused his sophomore campaign to suffer somewhat. Perkins has still managed to run for 343 yards and a touchdown on 74 totes and has caught nine passes for 31 yards and another score.
