Tomlinson names top two after UA visit

The University of Alabama hosted a small contingent of official visitors over the weekend, but the group of prospects didn't lack in size.

All four visitors, Dakota Ball, Daniel McCullers, Darius Philon and Dalvin Tomlinson, expect to play on the defensive line at the next level, and all four weigh over 250 pounds. Tomlinson, the highest ranked of the recruits, enjoyed his time in Tuscaloosa.

"It was pretty good," Tomlinson said. "I got to talk to the coaches, see the academic side of the school. I hung out with some players and got to see the whole campus and everything in detail. I liked the academic side overall, and the campus is just perfect.

"I like the coaches (at Alabama). They have players that will push me to make me better, and I like that. The facilities and the way everyone one is, it's like a big family."

The 6-foot-2, 270 pound four-star met with UA head coach Nick Saban to discuss what position he would be playing and how the Crimson Tide planned to utilize him.

"We were just talking about the defensive position I would play, defensive end," Tomlinson said. "They want to use me mostly as a pass rusher, and they said I was pretty good at run-stopping, too."

After the visit, Tomlinson named Alabama and Georgia Tech his favorites. The Georgia native took his official visit to Georgia Tech the weekend of Dec. 2. He also says Indiana and Tennessee are still in the mix but hasn't set up any more visits.

With his recruitment winding down, Tomlinson still doesn't know when he's going to make his decision.

"I'll make a decision whenever I feel that I've picked the right school, and I've finished looking at every school individually," he said.
