Greer ready to make an impact
Three-star safety Brandon Greer, out of Chicago Mount Carmel, made an early commitment in June 2011 that he would not regret. He committed to Central Michigan University.
It was very important for him to choose a school before his senior season.
"As I was getting recruited, I felt real comfortable with the Central Michigan coaching staff. I really felt trusted by the coaches as well."
Making the decision to become a Chippewa was a big step in Greer's life. He is one of a few players in this class that could earn playing time in their freshman season next fall.
"I see myself being there for the full four years and being able to experience college and college football and get my degree."
Greer had scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, along with interest from Eastern Illinois, Illinois, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois. He has visited EMU, CMU, WMU and NIU.
His visit to Mount Pleasant during the weekend of December 2-4 really helped him to make up his mind on which college he would attend.
"I liked it a lot. I liked the players who hosted me, going to dinner with the team and playing video games with the players. It was a good family bonding experience for me and the program."
The Central Michigan coaching staff plans to use Greer as a safety. When he announced to the staff that he would be committing to play football for the Chippewas, the staff was very excited.
"They told me "Fire Up" and that they were glad that I committed early."
